Faculty of Public Health




Kerman School of Public Health commenced operation at the Medical School Complex, in Modiriat St, in 1987, having accepted 53 students (18 students in Family Health Associate degree and 35 students in Bachelor of Public Health) and 4 faculty members. It was relocated to a leasehold property in Emam Khomeini St, in 1988. By 1989, construction of the building of the school of Public Health, within the main campus of the university was officially ordered as a national project. The school was once again relocated in 1991 to Ferdowsi St, and finally, in 1998, it was moved to the main building, located in the campus. Dr. Fereidoun Nouhi, Dr. Hossein Keshavarz, Dr. Iraj Sharifi, and Dr. Mohammad Malakoutian, were among the players in the establishment of this school.

Following the establishment of the Education Development Center (EDC), also considering the necessity for change in the educational and research methods, evaluation of the faculty, and other pertinent affairs, the EDO was founded in 2005, including the following committees:

3. Faculty Education Committee;                           4. Evaluation Committee;

5. Continuing Education Committee;


Obtaining the Certificate in Quality Management

As quality is the determining factor of success in any organization, and expectations from a school is beyond the ordinary routine daily, monthly, and annual activities, accordingly, the School of Public Health, after one year of collaborative effort, and as a first step in a long-term plan, was awarded with the Certificate in Quality Management (ISO 9001:2000).

The School of Public Health has held the following conferences:

2. The 1st Conference on the Importance of Management in Health Service Provision

Educational Facilities

- The School of Health, currently, benefits from 10 classrooms equipped with overhead devices, slideshow device and video projectors, in a standing property of 12900 square meters;

- This school boasts of 7 laboratories with a substructure area of more than 2000 square meters and 5 workshops of nearly 1000 square meters.

- The School’s library of five hundred square meters holds 18561 printed volumes (14840 volumes in Farsi and 3721 volumes in English), 73 Farsi journal collections, 9 English journal collections, and access to online databanks.

- Our Audiovisual Center is equipped with overhead, video projection, visualizers, television sets, projector, mobile blocker, sound systems, etc.

- Our Educational Unit offers 6 PC sets with all the accessories;

- The Computer Center offers two Computer Labs, intended for students and the faculty.


The students are accepted in fall and spring semesters, into state-supported and self-supporting programs. Since establishment, a total of 3507 students graduated from this school in majors of Environmental Health, Occupational Health, and Public Health, and, presently, 792 students (300 boys and 492 girls) are studying associate degree, bachelor’s, and master’s programs.

The School of Health is administered by two deputies: 1. The Education and Research Deputy; and 2. The Administration, Finance, and Student Deputy;



Atomic absorption spectrophotometer; handheld air pollution measurement device; particle measurement device; gas chromatograph; spectrophotometer; sensitive digital scale; sampling pump; anthropometer; vitalograph and audiometer, are among the equipment of this school.

Kerman Public Health School was awarded ISO 9001:2000 Certification by the RWTUV.


List of Undertaken Measures for Implementing the Quality Management System

1. Planning of the executive organizations for implementing a quality management system and planning activities, as well as, development and provision of by-laws (appointment of a Quality Manager, Manager of Quality Improvement Office, and members of the steering committee).

2. Formation and organization of the working groups by the School’s experts in order to develop the executive methods of the agenda and other pertaining documents;

3. Specification of the standard reference:

   ISO 9000:2000 as the reference for terms and basics;

   ISO 9001-2000 as reference for requirements;

4. Preliminary assessment by the consulting company;

5. Determining quality policy, quality objectives, and quality manual;

6. Identification of the School’s processes, consisting of four types:

   a. Processes pertaining to the Administration;
