Alireza Afzalipour, may he rest in peace, founder of Kerman University, was born on March 26, 1909, in Tehran, to a family, all members of which were philosophers and scholars. Indeed, this cultural and patriotic act by Mr. Alireza Afzalipour, who, wholeheartedly and without any expectations, offered all his financial belongings and even well-being to his fellow countrymen deserves the utmost praise, admiration, and appreciation, and is, as evident, rare, if not unprecedented.

The idea of building a university by Alireza Afzalipour was accepted by Banu Fakhera Saba. These two nobles pledge to build a university in one of the deprived areas of the country, and in the end, this lottery goes to the name of Kerman.

Alireza Afzalipour, with the help of God and his abundant love for his country, his secretary and his colleagues, succeeded in officially presenting the achievements of all his hard work and savings to the people of Kerman on the 24th of Shahrivar 1364.
Currently, Kerman University of Medical Sciences is operating with 7 vice-chancellors, 9 faculties and 32 research centers which
has 528 faculty members, 5464 students, 211 international students.
