Announcement of THE Subject Rankings 2026

Kerman University of Medical Sciences Maintains Its Position in Medicine & Health and Achieves Global Ranking in Education Studies

The results of the Times Higher Education (THE) Subject Rankings 2026 have been released. This internationally recognized ranking system evaluates universities worldwide based on a comprehensive set of performance indicators, including teaching, research environment, research quality, industry income, and international outlook. THE is considered one of the most authoritative global university ranking systems.

According to the published results, Kerman University of Medical Sciences (KMU) has maintained its position in the subject area of Medicine & Health, securing a global ranking band of 501–600, consistent with its 2025 performance. This achievement reflects the University’s stable performance across key teaching and research indicators and its sustained presence in major international ranking systems.

In addition, Kerman University of Medical Sciences has been ranked in the subject area of Education Studies, placing in the 801+ global band. Notably, KMU is the only medical university featured in the THE Subject Rankings 2026 in this field. This recognition highlights the University’s commitment to advancing educational development and strengthening the global standing of medical education.

The Times Higher Education ranking methodology is based on five main performance pillars:

  • Teaching (29.5%)

  • Research Environment – including productivity, income, and research reputation (29%)

  • Research Quality – including citation impact, research strength, and excellence (30%)

  • Industry Income and Innovation (4%)

  • International Outlook – including international faculty, students, and global research collaborations (7.5%)

The Vice-Chancellor for Research and Technology at Kerman University of Medical Sciences attributed these results to the dedicated efforts of faculty members, researchers, students, and staff, and emphasized the University’s continued strategic planning to further enhance its position in prestigious international rankings in the coming years.
